These days, health and wellness means more than just feeling physically healthy. It’s about collective health of mind, body and spirit. Health of the mind includes getting enough brain exercise and stimulation – analytical work, studying, doing puzzles/games. It’s also about taking care of your mental health by doing activities to reduce stress, and have a positive outlet for your emotions – such as writing, meditating, or even speaking to a professional. Body health includes getting enough exercise, sleep, eating a healthy and well balanced diet and using supplements and products that are beneficial to you. Spiritual health can include regularly practicing your belief of choice – whether it be through rituals, prayer, or just being connected with nature.
There is no one way or set of specific rules or guidelines to take care of your mind, body and spiritual health. It is up to you as an individual to find what things work for you and what things don’t, which bring you into balance and which things don’t. Maybe you can’t stand studying or taking new classes but you are an avid trivia person and that keeps your brain stimulated. Maybe you don’t like going to the gym to work out but you enjoy doing yoga in your backyard. Whether you are new to health and wellness and deciding you’d like to make a positive change for yourself, or like me, curious about every health and wellness thing out there it’s never a bad thing to get as much knowledge as you can.
In the process of reading or researching, you will discover new and healthy ways to take care of your mind, body and spirit. There is no shortage of things you can do to feel that way! When you feel your best, you look your best. When you look your best, you feel your best – and when you are feeling and looking your best, it radiates out for others to see. It creates a domino effect and makes others want to look and feel good too. It’s never a bad thing to lift others up. Keep shining!
